The Modesto Regional Fire Operations Division is in charge of 125 sworn personnel. There are 37 firefighters on duty 24 hours a day. The sworn personnel work out of 11 neighborhood fire stations and 1 airport fire station.
Modesto Regional's apparatus responded to over 28,000 calls for service in 2012. The Operations Division protects approximately 83 square miles (40 city of Modesto and 43 Salida District) and a population over 240,000 people (220,000 City of Modesto and unincorporated and 24,000 in Salida Fire District). The areas of protection range from residential neighborhood to commercial buildings and rural areas. The Departments response areas include covering Highway 99, 132, 108, and 219.
The Division is responsible for various apparatus including the Crash Fire Rescue vehicles at the Airport including a Cal EMA Type I Engine that responds mutual aid though out the state. It also has a Type I Heavy Rescue, Hazardous Materials response vehicle, Incident Command Post vehicle, and Type III Brush Engines. The Department also cross-staffs two water rescue boats at Station 1 and Station 12.Modesto Regional Fire Operations provides reliable and efficient service to 43% of Stanislaus County's population in 7% of its geography.
